Its circular form recalls dendrochronology, echoing tree rings that trace the passage of time and environmental change. The shifting tones also evoke the atmospheric effects of wildfires, where particles in the air transform light into surreal shades of orange and red. The work reflects both the wonder of our atmosphere and the fragility of the ecosystems that sustain it, urging a reconnection with the natural world. Sky-Set was on view at Expo 2025 Japan as part of the European Union-organized group exhibition Design Beyond Things. Our eyes are more sensitive to blue rather than violet which means to us the sky appears blue.When the Sun is lower in the sky, sunlight goes through more of the atmosphere. The blue light is scattered so much that the reds and yellows pass through to your eyes. I’ve tried to capture the blue of the sky and the red of the sunset.And these colors are so if the air pollution is not present. We have almost burnt up all the sunlight aka fossil fuels.
